A Collaborative Art Studio

Thingy Studio

A few years ago two local artists, Sherazad Jamal and Cat L’Hirondelle, created Thingy Studio. The two of them have worked together for years but finally decided to put a name to their joint efforts. They decided to name it “Thingy Studio” because of their constant and often hilarious loss of words. This shared quirk resulted in many conversations that involved “Don’t forget the thingy” or “Pass me the whatcha ma callit.” But even though they couldn’t always use the right words they understood each other on an almost subconscious level, making work together a very fluid process.

They started out doing private client projects such as a piece called “In the Labyrinth,” as seen to the left, inspired by the ominous idea of souls being trapped in the walls of our houses. After that they moved their efforts into creating public art projects. The “F-Word-Exploring Feminism in the 21st Century” is their first curatorial project.
